COURSE DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL
This training will cover all aspects of the tuberculosis (TB) contact investigation process to provide healthcare workers with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct an interview for contact investigation. The format includes didactic lectures, group discussions, exercises, and role-playing practice sessions.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is designed for public health nurses, outreach workers, disease investigators and others who conduct and/or oversee TB contact investigations.
COURSE PREREQUISITES
1. Candidate must be a public health nurse who works in TB at a local health department
2. The ideal candidate for this course is someone who has never taken this course, someone new to TB (within the past 5 years), and/or someone who works in a high-TB burden County
3. As space is limited we encourage each health department to send only one nurse to this course
4. Candidate must complete a pre-course assessment
REQUIREMENTS
All participants must be able to:
1. Attest to completing the CDC Self-Study Modules on Tuberculosis prior to the training. The modules are available at: http://www.cdc.gov/tb/education/ssmodules/default.htm
2. Attend all 3 days of the training and participate in individual and group exercises, including a practice TB interview (will involve video taping for educational purposes)
3. Complete the post-course asessment and evaluation forms
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
The deadline to apply for this course is April 2, 2018. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will be notified by email when their application is received and approved.
